Brown Cornelius, Sr., 74, of Staunton passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013
at Augusta Health.
He was born February 16, 1938 in Washington, D.C., son of the late Clyde
Brown Cornelius and Tacy Stiener Cornelius.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye
Bowers Cornelius, an infant son, Harry Camden Cornelius and a brother, Glen
Stiener.
He retired from Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center and was a member of
Staunton Mennonite Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Ellen Cornelius and her fiancé,
Benjamin Legg and Wanda Faye Bentley and her friend, Clifton Johnson; three
sons, Clyde Brown Cornelius, Jr. and his fiancée Emily Offenberger, James
William Cornelius, and Joseph Larry Cornelius; two brothers, Floyd Allen
Patterson and Freddie Lewis Patterson; grandchildren, Kayla Faye Bentley,
Wesley Eugene Bentley, Jr., Hazel Ellen Faye Legg, Micheal Logan Cornelius,
Jacoby Chase Offenberger; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and
special friends Wesley Bentley, Sr. and Keri Goins.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January
23, 2013 at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and other times at the home of
his daughter Hazel Ellen, 368 Grandon Road, Staunton.
A service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the
Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Gasser
officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Clyde Cornelius Jr., Joseph Cornelius, Benjamin
Legg, Clifton Johnson, Bradley Via, and Tyler Offenberger.
