Call to Worship
Leader: The Lord is
King!
The Lord is great in Zion, in (your city),
and at (your congregation).
We have gathered to call on the name of the Lord,
to remind ourselves of all the ways God answers
prayer, to hear again the opening story of God’s justice
and faithful love.
All: Holy is the Lord, mighty are the acts of God.

Prayer of Confession
Leader: We want to remain
on the mountain
where your presence brings quiet happiness.
People: You call us to go down the mountain
to confront our burdens and fears,
to confess our plots to get ahead,
to walk with those who are in trouble.
All: Help us to overcome our reluctance
and remember that in all things we are not alone.
Amen.

Children’s Time
Scripture Reading: Matthew 17:1-9
Sermon: “Jesus: Bright as Light, Down and Dirty”
Sending
Leader: You name us beloved
and we are stopped in our tracks.
All: Beloved.
Leader: We are used to other names like not good enough.
All: Beloved.
Leader: It takes every voice to bear the weight of this new
name, a name that calls us from fear to hope—from
death to life.
All: Listen. You are my beloved.
Leader: Carry the name with you down from this mountain
and out to your neighbors who desperately wait
to be called
All: beloved. — Lois Siemens, Kerrobert, Saskatchewan
