Call to Worship
We have
had a week of listening to voices:
loved ones near and far,
soundtracks and grocery clerks,
the insistent ring on our phone.
Your voice, O God, is harder to hear.
May we unplug our ears to hear again
the persevering witness of faithful love;
the lilt of our voices raised in thankful song;
the reminder of Jesus, the shepherd,
who knows and understands all voices.

Opening Prayer
Prayer of Confession
Leader: Yes, lead me beside
still waters,
People: but not into the deep end.
Leader: Yes, restore my soul,
People: but don’t ask me to give up all my treasures.
Leader: Yes, walk with me through the dark,
People: but don’t let me suffer the length of days.
Leader: O God, who knows the whole story of our lives,
our tentative yes and our vulnerable but,
All: forgive us our short-sightedness.
Leader: Strengthen us along the journey,
that we may continually experience
the profound grace of your presence. Amen.
