Have mercy

Gathering

God of all peoples, we gather as partial insiders and outsiders.
We have heard your words before, read the Scriptures,
served the needy, and yet at times we still feel as if we are on
the outside of your wide embrace. During this time of worship
may we hear our name called again, may we know ourselves as
loved and accepted, may this place be a house of prayer for all
peoples.

Praising/Adoring

Leader: Praise the One makes the earth grow green with
goodness.
People: Praise the One who judges the people with equity.
Leader: Praise the One who hears the cries of the outcast.
People: Praise the One who befriends the foreigners.
Leader: Praise the One whose house is open.
People: Praise the One whose mercy is for all seekers.
All: Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Praying

Merciful God, when we consider all of the pain and injustice in
our world, we feel like shouting. We shout for mercy, but where
is the mercy? We shout for healing, but where is the healing?
We see glimpses of hope, and wonder what we should expect.
We experience fragments of good news, and wonder if there
is more to come. Grant us the faith to keep seeking, to keep
expecting, to keep watching for the healing and hope that you
promise. Amen.
