We are the
Lord’s
Gathering
Leader:
Welcoming God, we are so glad for the wideness of
your mercy.
People: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all
his benefits.
Leader: We worship you, Lord, for you see into our hearts.
People: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all
his benefits.
Leader: The Lord says, “As I live, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.”
People: Bless the Lord, O my soul; give thanks, and
worship this great God.
Confessing/Reconciling
Welcoming, gracious God,
we confess our tendencies to judge
those with other opinions. Help us learn how to live with forbearance
and celebrate true life which lives for the Lord. Open
our eyes to your good dream for your diverse people. Amen.
Dedication Prayer
Leader:
Lord of the living and the dead, as we enter another
year of learning, we ask you to help us find our roots
in the story of your people.
People: Whether we are teachers or learners, help us to live
in the Lord and to thankfully reflect your mercy,
grace, and steadfast love.
Leader: Bless those who teach by helping them teach with
godly wisdom. Bless those who learn by inspiring
them to see you at work through your servants.
People: Bless all places of learning so that your children
proclaim, “We are the Lord’s.” Amen.
