Even
the wind and the sea obey him
Proclaiming
Leader: God laid
the foundation of the earth. The morning stars
sang together and all the heavenly beings shouted for
joy.
People: The Lord’s steadfast love endures forever.
Leader: God created boundaries for the water, and wrapped it in
clouds and darkness.
People: The Lord’s steadfast love endures forever.
Leader: God has gathered in the lands from the east to the west
and from the north to the south.
People: The Lord’s steadfast love endures forever.
Leader: When people cry out to God, the stormy waters become
still. The people’s distress is removed as the sea is
hushed.
All: O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
The Lord’s steadfast love endures forever.
Praying
You, O Lord, are the one whom the waves obey. You speak the
word, and the storms are calmed. We cry to you for help in our
times of need. We turn to you and desire that your words calm
the storms in our lives. We pray that your power and might
extend your saving grace to us so that we may be redeemed
from trouble.
O Lord, we give thanks that you care about our lives and
listen to us. May we always remember to praise you for your
goodness and enduring love. Amen.
Sending
As we leave here today, remember that God’s love endures
forever. Know that God helps us in times of trouble by saying,
“Peace, be still.” Let us have faith and be awed as we wonder
together, “Who is God, that even the wind and the sea obey
him?”
Go now, basking in God’s steadfast love and peace.
