Joy
comes with the morning
Praising/Adoring
Leader: The
steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
People: Sing praises to the Lord, O you his faithful ones,
and give thanks to his holy name.
Leader: “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul that seeks him.
People: Weeping may linger for the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
Leader: You have turned my mourning into dancing;
you have taken off my sackcloth
and clothed me with joy,
so that my soul may praise you and not be silent.
All: O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.
Praying
Lord of all nations, Lord of all creation, we gather as your
people on this first day of the week. It will be a week filled with
flags, drums, fanfare, and national celebrations. But we are
reminded today by the Bible that says that true healing, true
strength, mercy, and favor all come from you. We are thankful
to live in lands of freedom, but even more thankful to be
known, loved, and remembered by you. Be with us this day as
we pledge our lives to you and your kingdom. In Christ, our
Savior, we ask. Amen.
Sending
In faith we have stretched out our hands.
In love, Jesus has spoken words of healing and life.
We go now as people of vision, healing, and hope.
