So
that your words may give grace
Confessing
Leader: Our
children and our neighbors near and far are listening
to us.
People: Do we speak the truth at all times?
Leader: Do our words build up?
People: Do our words give grace to those who hear?
All: Yes, Lord, we pledge to speak the truth with love.
Leader: As beloved children imitate their parents, we will imitate
God.
All: We will give the grace of forgiveness and restoration,
just as God in Christ has forgiven and restored us.
Praying
Fill me, Lord, with your loving, life-giving Spirit. Make my
heart tender, and my work and my words honest. Deliver me
from all my fears.
Open my ears to hear you, and my mouth to praise you!
Amen.
Sending
As Elijah journeyed in the strength of the food and water that
the angel of the Lord provided him, may you gain strength for
your journey by fully trusting in Jesus—the Living Bread—who
gave his life for the world. — Susan Miller, Hesston, Kansas
