Seek
peace, and pursue it
Confessing/Reconciling
We are people with
many choices. We might trust in financial
security. We might believe that military force and soldiers’ sacrifices
make us free. We might bestow our passions to a sports
team, or identify with celebrities. We seek power, control, and
popularity. Our culture encourages us to make these choices.
However, unless we choose to trust wholly in the Lord, we
will wander in the wilderness and miss the life God offers us
through Jesus Christ.
(praying)
O God, we confess that we often waver in our devotion to
you. We think we need to add extra gods to protect us, and we
worship our culture’s idols. We repent of our unfaithfulness.
(silent confessions)
We accept with thanksgiving your grace and forgiveness.
Amen
Proclaiming
Leader: Whom will you choose to serve?
People: We will serve the Lord!
All: Jesus has the words of eternal life. We know he is the
Holy One of God.
Sending
Go forward, equipped with the whole armor of God, ready to
proclaim the gospel of peace in this troubled world. Keep alert
to the needs and struggles of our fellow believers. Pray for each
other so that we may all faithfully serve our Lord.
Know that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and
saves the crushed in spirit. The Lord rescues and redeems his
servants.
