Announcements

The Valley Mission and Buckingham Branch Railroad are collecting donations for the Christmas Express. Bring new or gently-used hats, gloves, and blankets to the Staunton train station at 3:00 on December 7. Pictures, refreshments, and family events all benefit the Valley Mission.

All are invited to a Christmas concert benefiting the Staunton Augusta Church Relief Association (SACRA) at Memorial Baptist Church on December 9. Doors open at 6:30, music begins at 7:00pm. See the bulletin board for more information.

On the evening of Saturday December 7, our teen Bible quiz team will be quizzing a team from the Lighthouse church of Baltimore, Maryland, here at SMC!  Please put this on your calendar.  Prior to the quiz we will be doing a meal as a fundraiser for the team's trip to San Diego next summer.  If you are interested in coming, please sign up on the sheet by the door so we know how many persons for whom to plan.

Please pray for:

  • Marvin Showalter, thanking God for a good report from a recent heart catherization procedure.
  • Our friends and family members dealing with illness.
  • Those who have lost loved ones and find the holidays difficult.

Swords to plowshares

Isaiah 2:4b, “They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.”
